INTRODUCTION TO LINO PRINTING

The Hive, Red House Farm, Dunham Massey, WA14 5RL

Learn how to create beautiful lino prints with an introduction to this creative and versatile printmaking process!

Over the course of three hours, you will be introduced to the equipment and techniques needed to carve, ink and print a simple lino block. You will be given full tuition at each stage of the process, from developing a design to mark-making and inking up, no previous experience is required.

Once your block is carved you will print it by hand in a range of colours and will be encouraged to experiment with different papers and backgrounds.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • How to develop a design

  • Mark-making techniques and how to carve

  • How to ink up and hand burnish

  • How to work with colour

This enjoyable process creates impressive results and you will take home a range of prints and a block that can be used time and time again. Many of my students get the lino printing bug and go off to buy their own equipment to continue with their printmaking!
